The Valdisieve Nursing Home is an accredited structure in accordance with regional regulations, open to all National Health Service patients, free of charge. Admissions for patients without acute pathologies are scheduled in advance. In the event that treatment is requested by the patient's General Practitioner, it is still necessary for our own doctor to carry out an examination. Our specialist will provide the necessary instructions for scheduling any pre-admission diagnostic tests, as well as an approximate admission date and the access methods. After the examination, patients will be asked to take the appropriate documents to the Admissions Office and are officially placed on the waiting list. They will subsequently be contacted by the Admissions Office in order to confirm the admission date. If available, patients should also bring along any healthcare documentation related to other hospital admissions, and previous medical examinations and tests. At the same time, patients should also inform the doctors about any medication they are taking on a regular basis and any allergies or intolerances they may have to food or drugs.

Booking hospital admissions
Hospital admissions can be booked by the patient or a person acting for the same, at the Admissions Office, by presenting the admission request form duly filled in by the specialist carrying out the admission examination. The office is open for booking ordinary admissions from Monday to Friday from 7.00 a.m. Ð 1.00 p.m. (+39/055/8391471). Ordinary admission bookings are normally handled in chronological order, according to the seriousness of the pathology and the organizational requirements of the department, and are monitored by the Medical Director.

Documents required
The documents required for admissions carried out in agreement with the National Health Service are: National Health Service card, tax code, identity document, General Practitioner's request and the admission proposal issued by our specialist.

Pre-admission tests
The pre-admission instrumental and laboratory diagnostic tests are ordered by the doctor carrying out the preliminary examination, based on the admission proposal. These tests are encoded by specific diagnostic protocols and can be supplemented by the doctor. Well-organized pre-admission tests take less time. These tests are normally carried out on an outpatient basis and are coordinated to minimize the amount of time required from the patient. The cost of the pre-admission tests is already included in the admission tariff so the patient does not have to pay anything and no specific document of authorization from the patient's General Practitioner is required. The date of the pre-admission tests is scheduled when the admission is booked or patients are given the date by telephone.

During admission
In the ward, the patient will find a Patient's Guide which provides useful information for the period of hospitalization as well as a user satisfaction questionnaire that patients are kindly asked to fill in before discharge.

What to bring along
Patients are advised to only bring along the personal possessions which are strictly necessary, their own underwear and personal hygiene products. Patients are requested not to bring valuable items and money, except for small amounts of cash for minor expenses. However, in exceptional cases, the Reception is prepared to look after valuable items.

Privacy
The Nursing Home complies with the provisions regarding Privacy set down in Legislative Decree no. 196/2003. Upon admission, patients are asked whether or not they consent to information being given to relatives about their state of health and to whom this information should be given. No information will be given out by telephone under any circumstances.

Meals
Meals are served at the following times: breakfast, before 7.00 a.m.; lunch, before 12.00 p.m.; supper, before 6.00 p.m.

In deference to others, each patient may only receive two visitors at a time.
In special situations, a family member may remain with the patient outside visiting hours, with the permission of the Ward Manager.

The porter's office is manned from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. on weekdays.
The switchboard service is available from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. on weekdays.

Mobile telephones can be used with the ring tone switched off and where the use of the same is not specifically prohibited.

Informed consent
Patients who are to undergo invasive treatment or investigations, surgery and blood transfusions shall be informed, in advance, of the characteristics of these procedures and the potential risks involved. Patients will be asked to sign a written consent form after receiving this information from the specialist.

Discharge
The discharge date is set by the doctor in charge of the case and patients and/or their relatives will be informed of the same in advance. After receiving the discharge letter from the doctor, the patient is requested to vacate the room by 11.30 a.m. Patients may ask to be discharged from the Clinic at any time under their own responsibility; in this case, they should make a signed statement, to be kept with their medical records, declaring that they have left the Nursing Home against doctors' advice. Upon discharge, where necessary and permitted by health service procedures in the territory, on-going post-hospitalization care for the patient will be arranged. Upon discharge, patients may request a copy of their medical records from Reception which will also provide all the necessary information regarding the issuing of the same.

Upgraded National Health Service admissions
Upon booking, it is possible to request a single or double room with high standard hotel type accommodation (the cost of which will be charged to the patient). The medical costs will not be affected.

Private admissions
It is possible to be admitted to the Valdisieve Nursing Home as a private patient, where all the medical and hotel expenses are charged to the patient or insurance company.

Both admission systems have the following advantages:
- patients can choose the doctor who will treat them throughout their hospital stay and carry out any surgery required;
- patients can choose an admission date that suits their requirements and are guaranteed a limited waiting time;
- personalized catering service;
- the possibility of accommodating a helper in the room: in fact, a single room will be reserved for the patient with a second bed for a helper who will also receive room service catering.
- the comforts of a hotel room with mini-bar, air conditioning, high definition LCD TV, private bathroom, living room area, Wi-fi internet connection. Some rooms also have a private terrace.

The healthcare and welfare services will, however, be the same for all patients.
